How do I troubleshoot Rocket League save data on PlayStation?

Creating save files can help resolve many issues.

Do you see a Load Failure error? The easiest solution is to select the New Save button.

If that doesn’t solve the problem, please follow the steps below to create a new save file. A new save file will not affect your progress or Inventory. Training Sequences, Video Settings, and Tutorial completion data will be removed with the following steps.

To fix this we suggest creating a new save file. A new save file will not affect your progress or your inventory. Some data will be removed when creating a new save data file. For more info check out: What Information is Stored Locally and what is on the server.

The steps below will create a backup of the existing save file. Your Replays, Training Sequence, Video Settings, and Tutorial Completion Data will be saved as a backup.


Backing Up Your Save Data

You can choose from one of the three following options to back up your data:

  • Online Storage
  • Cloud Storage
  • USB Storage

Online Storage

If you have a PlayStation Plus subscription, you can take advantage of their online storage. Click on the link below to learn more about online storage for your console:

Cloud Storage

To enable Cloud Storage:

  1. Select Settings from the Main Menu.
  2. Select System.
  3. Select Power Saving.
  4. Select Features Available in Rest Mode.
  5. Select Stay Connected to the Internet.
  6. Press the Home button to return to the Main Menu.
  7. Select Settings from the Main Menu.
  8. Select Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
  9. Select Saved Data.

For PS5:

  1. Select Sync Saved Data.
  2. Select Auto-Sync Saved Data.

For PS4:

  1. Select Auto-Upload.

USB Backup (PS4 Only):

  1. Insert a USB into the USB port on the front of your PS4.
  2. Select Settings from the Main Menu.
  3. Select Application Saved Data Management.
  4. Select Saved Data in System Storage.
  5. Select Copy to USB Storage Device.
  6. Select Rocket League.
  7. Wait until the transfer is complete.
  8. Remove the USB device.

Delete the existing save file and launch Rocket League to create a new save file

  1. Return to the Main Menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Storage.
  4. Select Saved Data.
  5. Select Rocket League.
  6. Press the Options button on your controller.
  7. Select Delete to delete the Rocket League saved data.
  8. Launch Rocket League (the tutorial video will play).

The problems should now be fixed with the new save file. If you’ve enabled Automatic Uploads, the new save file will back up to Cloud Storage.


Download the save file backup from the Cloud

If the new save file did not solve the problem, download the save file backup from the Cloud.

PS5

  1. Select Settings from the Main Menu.
  2. Select Saved Data and Games/Apps Settings.
  3. Select Saved Data.
  4. Select Cloud Storage.
  5. Choose Rocket League.
  6. Select Download to Console Storage.

PS4

  1. Select your local user.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Application Data Management.
  4. Select Saved Data in Online Storage.
  5. Select Download to System Storage.
  6. Select Rocket League.

This will recover the Replays, Training Sequences, Video Settings, and Tutorial Completion Data.

If you see a message that says Do you want to overwrite this saved data, you are downloading a file that already exists in the PlayStation System Storage. Compare dates and times shown on the System Storage and Online Storage versions. Make sure you are downloading the older file from Online Storage.

Once you know which file you want to save, select from the following options:

  • Select Yes to replace the version in system storage.
  • Select No to cancel the download.
