Why can't I use online features in Rocket League when using a guest account on Xbox?

Guest accounts on Xbox cannot be used to access online features in Rocket League. If you're using your Xbox Live account to host a guest account, you will also not be able to access the game’s online features. Once all guest accounts are removed from the party, the host Xbox Live account can use online features as normal. In order to access Rocket League's online features, all players in a party will need to log into an existing Xbox Live account or create a new one. Payment is not required to create an Xbox Live account to play Rocket League online.

Continuing to log in with a guest account in a session will result in limited access to Rocket League's features. A message will be displayed saying "Guest accounts cannot access online play. Please log into another account to play online.” Some disabled online features while using or hosting a guest account include:

  • Joining Matchmaking and Online Matches
  • Accessing your friends list and social menu
  • Browsing the Item Shop
  • Viewing your Rocket Pass
  • XP Progression
  • Trading
