Why do I see a black screen in Rocket League?

If Rocket League appears only with a black screen but you can hear audio, there may be a problem with the display resolution settings or HDCP. Use the following troubleshooting to resolve these problems.

Epic Games Store

1. Open the Epic Games Launcher
2. Click on Settings
3. Scroll down to Manage Games
4. Click the arrow in front of the Rocket League Section
5. Check the Additional Command Arguments box
6. In the text box type: -windowed
7. Click the arrow in front of Settings in the top left corner
8. Click Library in the left column
9. Launch Rocket League

Xbox One S|X

Please check that the video output options are correct for your display.

Is there enhanced Rocket League support for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S?

If you are using any video capture technologies then you will need to disable HDCP.

Disabling HDCP will prevent you from using streaming apps.

1. Open Settings.
2. Go to Power and Startup.
3. Set the Power Mode to Energy-saving.
4. Restart your Xbox.
5. Launch Rocket League and try to reproduce the errors you had before.

PlayStation

1. Go to Settings and then click on System.
2. Choose HDMI to get a list of options.
3. Turn off HDCP by hitting the toggle next to Enable HDCP.

Switch

HDCP will activate when media players such as Netflix or Hulu are started. HDCP automatically turns off when the media app is quit.

Steam

1. Open Steam.
2. Select Library tab.
3. Right-Click on Rocket League game.
4. Select Properties.
5. Select Set Launch Options button.
6. On the command line type: –windowed.
7. Select OK.
8. Close Properties.
9. Launch Rocket League.
